Similarity and Plagiarism Policy

Scientia Psychiatrica does not tolerate plagiarism, text recycling that is not transparently disclosed, duplicate publication, fabricated citations, or the unattributed use of data, images, ideas, or words.

Screening

Submissions may be screened with similarity-detection software before peer review, during revision, or before publication. A similarity report is interpreted by an editor; no manuscript is accepted or rejected solely on the basis of a numerical similarity score. Legitimate quotations, standard methodological language, references, preprints, and properly cited overlap are evaluated in context.

Author responsibilities

Authors must submit original work, cite and quote sources accurately, disclose closely related manuscripts and preprints, obtain permission for copyrighted material where required, and explain any reused methods or data. Simultaneous submission and redundant publication are prohibited.

Editorial response

Suspected overlap is handled fairly and confidentially in accordance with applicable COPE guidance. Depending on its nature and extent, the journal may request clarification or correction, reject the manuscript, notify relevant institutions when warranted, or correct or retract a published article. Authors are given an opportunity to respond before a final integrity decision is made.
