Author Guidelines

Prepare your manuscript with the official Scientia Psychiatrica template. Initial submissions are sent by email for editorial assessment; manuscripts that pass screening are registered in OJS for transparent tracking, peer review, revision, and production.

Initial submission channel: email the manuscript and required files to scientiapsychiatrica@gmail.com. OJS credentials are issued only after the manuscript passes the initial editorial assessment. There is no submission fee.

3,000–5,000 words, excluding abstract, tables, figure legends, and references. Up to six tables and/or figures.

2. General manuscript preparation

Element Requirement
Page and typography A4; approximately 1.8 cm left/right margins; Cambria; single-column title block and two-column main text with an approximately 0.7 cm gutter. Body text is 10 pt, justified, and single-spaced.
Title Informative, specific, and no more than 20 words. Avoid unexplained abbreviations.
Authors and affiliations Names without academic titles; institution, city, and country; corresponding author marked with an asterisk; ORCID iD for every author.
Abstract Structured as Background, Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusion; 250–300 words; no references or undefined abbreviations.
Keywords Three to six keywords in alphabetical order.
Main text Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Declarations, and References. Section headings are 11 pt bold; subheadings 10 pt bold.
Tables and figures Number consecutively; provide clear titles and legends; cite each item in the text; remove participant identifiers.
References Vancouver style with superscript citations after punctuation. First three authors followed by et al.; NLM journal abbreviations; DOI links. Minimum 15 references; aim for >80% primary sources and >80% published within ten years.

3. Study-specific requirements

Original research

  • Methods: design/setting, participants, variables/instruments, data collection, statistics, and ethics.
  • Use CONSORT, STROBE, STARD, ARRIVE, or another relevant EQUATOR guideline.
  • Present results without interpretation.

Case report / case study

  • Follow CARE 2013 and submit the completed checklist.
  • Include a clinical timeline, diagnostic assessment, intervention, and follow-up.
  • Written informed consent is mandatory.

Systematic review / meta-analysis

  • Follow PRISMA 2020 and state protocol/PROSPERO registration.
  • Use PICOS and two independent screeners/extractors.
  • Report risk of bias and GRADE where applicable.
  • Provide PRISMA flow, synthesis outputs, and full search data.

4. Required declarations

Include every heading; write “None” or “Not applicable” when appropriate.

5. Submission package

  • Separate title page with complete author and corresponding-author details.
  • Anonymized manuscript in the correct official DOCX template with identifying metadata removed.
  • Tables, figures, supplementary files, and the applicable reporting checklist.
  • Cover letter confirming originality, exclusive submission, authorship approval, ethical compliance, and relevant disclosures.

6. Editorial assessment, review, and revision

The editorial office normally completes the initial assessment within 1–3 days. Screening considers aims and scope, originality, and similarity. Manuscripts that pass are registered in OJS and the corresponding author receives account information. Each manuscript then undergoes double-blind assessment by three independent reviewers, normally within 2–4 weeks. Major or minor revisions are normally requested within 1–2 weeks and must include a point-by-point response.

The journal’s approximate acceptance rate is 45%. This descriptive rate does not predict or guarantee an individual outcome.
